How much UV protection will solar film provide? Automotive applications, solar films can reduce harmful ultraviolet rays by 96 to 99.9 percent, depending upon the specific film. All our films will reduce glare and reduce solar heat gain by 77%. We carry films approved by the Skin Cancer Foundation so you can be assured of the best protection.
Will window film reduce the risk of skin cancer?
Yes, whether it’s your home, office or vehicle.
Our window
films will reduce as much as 99.9% of ultra-violet rays.
How long does it take to have tint installed on my vehicle? We are not like many fast food type tint shops in the area. Our installation process generally takes about 2 hours (45 minutes to an hour for a pair of front windows) depending on the difficulty of the vehicle, cleanliness and the number of windows. We take our time to insure a quality install and will not rush our work.
Anything I need to do to prepare my car for my tinting appointment? Please provide a basic interior and exterior cleaning. Remove any items such as child safety seats, book bags, clothing, McDonald's trash, etc., that may inhibit the installation.
Does tinting go on the inside or outside? Tinting is installed on the inside of the windows. If you see our installers handling the film on the outside of the glass, they are just designing patterns or shrinking film to fit the curvature of the glass.
What do I use to clean my tinted windows? While not quite as hard as glass, our films are extremely scratch-resistant. Caution should be exercised to prevent extreme gouging by hard, sharp, metallic objects. We recommend a micro fiber towel along with Plexus plastic cleaner or purpose made window tint cleaning products (available at our shop). Do not use any ammonia-based products or abrasive cleaning pads.
How long must I wait to roll down my door windows? We suggest keeping your windows up for 3 to 5 days until the film cures. I just got my windows tinted. They look streaky and bubbly. What's up? Every vehicle that leaves our shop looks like this. When applying our film we use water. This water gets trapped between the film and the glass and looks streaky and/or bubbly. This is normal and usually goes away in about 3 to 5 days.
Will tint damage my rear defroster? Your rear defroster will work as if there were no tint ever applied. We tint over all the defroster lines. You can use your defroster immediately after tinting installation.
Will films distort my vision while looking out of the window?
Professionally
installed films are virtually undetectable after the installation and curing
period and are extremely optically clear. Most users will agree that visual
acuity is often increased with high quality film because glare is reduced, greatly reducing
eyestrain.
Why do I often see purple bubbling window film on vehicles. Purple films and bubbling film is a sign of a very low grade window film whose mounting adhesive and dye components have broken down. Our films are warranted against this, using more stable and advanced dye chemistries. The adhesives we use are known world-wide for its strength, durability, and optical clarity. Paradoxically, it seems that only poor quality films are noticed, and high quality, professional installations go unnoticed, perceived as mere "factory-tinted glass." All our films come with a factory-backed nationwide lifetime warranty.
What film is
legal for my car? State laws pertain to how dark you can tint your car or truck windows vary from
state to state. Prescription windshields are require a medical exception
certificate. Check your state where your car is registered to find
out applicable tint laws.
How do safety and security films work?
Automotive
applications, the film, which is available in a variety of tints, is applied to
the interior of the glass. In the event of an impact, the film serves to
reduce the likelihood of glass breakage, but where shattering does occur they
firmly hold the pieces safely in place. The films have an exceptionally strong,
energy-absorbing mounting adhesive, and are composed of polyester film layers
that are extremely high in tensile and break strength.
How much do the automotive films cost? The cost of solar or security films will vary with the thickness, type of material, size of the vehicle, and the market location.
Those words, "You get what you pay for!" ring true for so many products and services. Sometimes, you can buy a brand name product and pay a small price, that's always nice. But, when it comes to an actual service that involves an application of some kind, it's always worth paying the extra money to get quality workmanship with superior products. Let me explain:
Window film is a thin flat material that is shipped from the manufacturer on a long plastic roll contained in a box. Now, vehicle windows are contoured and many back windows such as a Porsche, Corvette, VW Beetle, Kia, etc., are quit round. Note: Curved windows, flat film. This is to be taken into consideration when quoted a price for automotive window tinting.
The price for automotive tinting can vary dramatically. Many tint shops are in business for the short team and usually do not last, lack business skills, lack professional skills and use cheap film ( many times bait and switch) that will turn purple and bubble in a matter of months, might charge you only $100-125 to tint your whole car. That's all well and good if you don't mind gaps around the edges and dirt trapped between the window and the film and have minimal heat rejection properties. A professional tint shop are known for the quality of their workmanship and equally important stand behind their installation after the sale. They would provide high performance films and an installation with attention to detail and superior workmanship.
Your Car Type: A small percentage of cars are harder to tint than others. When getting a price quote, a reputable tint shop will always asks you for the make, model and year of your vehicle. This isn't to see how much money you have, it's to calculate the cost per window and the approximate time it will take to tint your car.
Type of Film: Just like comparing a Ford Taurus to a Porsche, there is a wide range of performance differences. The same holds true with window tinting. Cheap film may look good at the beginning, but it can fail to block the summer heat, fade, turn purple, or bubble soon after installation. Your get what you pay for! Higher quality window films offer advanced performance films and a lifetime warranty. These films are worth the higher price along with the knowledge and skill level required for installation on your vehicle windows.
Film
Warranty:
You are highly encouraged to ask about the performance warranty before
you pay for a tinting service. Typically, warranty's can last from as little as
1 year to a lifetime. Most warrantees only cover cracking, glazing,
bubbling, and peeling. Some films carry a "Color-Safe
Warranty" that gives you peace of mind that if the color of the tint ever
changed in shade, it will be replaced. The best warrantees are
Lifetime Limited warranties which are backed nation wide. Please refer to
our warranty section for a copy of the warranty card. We only sell films
with a nationwide Lifetime Limited Warranties.
Can I install window film myself? All our films must be installed by a professional installer. A professional tint shop is more then happy to answer customer’s questions. We thrive on answering any questions you may have. We love to talk about our products, and to enlighten you on the shade best suited for your vehicle to get the look you were wanting. Shade of film can vary from vehicle to vehicle depending on curvature of windows and the color of the interior and exterior of your car.
Irresponsible tint shops can also offer "Lifetime Warrantees"; however, if they go out of business next year, who is there to replace your bubbling tint? You should always factor in this "hidden" cost when buying low priced car tint. Also, they may say they use certain film but apply a cheaper film to your vehicle.
Make sure you receive the actually warranty after your vehicle has been tinted. Dealer's Reputation: Reputable Tint Shops take great pride in their work. They have high standards in who they hire, the film they use, and overall customer service and experience. They are more then happy to answer any questions and show you examples of their workmanship. Most importantly, a quality tint shop will have grown its business on referrals, recommendation and its repeat customers.
How durable is window tinting? Our window film is protected by a scratch-resistant coating that can withstand everyday wear and tear. The key word, however, is "resistant." This doesn't mean scratch-PROOF. Use care when loading and unloading larger objects or handling items with sharp edges, such as some jewelry. Also use care when taking off your seatbelt, which could nick or gouge your window film. These are some of the most common issues we see that are not covered in the warranty.
Why do other shops charge less? Pricing widely ranges some shops use cheap, low-quality films. Over time these inferior films will just bubble and/or turn purple. Be sure to choose a shop with a good reputation. Remember experience is very important! Some shops have installers who lack the experience and skills necessary for a quality installation. You cannot achieve a great tint job if it's someone who doesn't tint on a regular basis. Different vehicles require different tricks and approaches. We price our installation to insure we do the job right. Please contact us and we will provide you an accurate quote!
Does the tint go to the top of the glass edge? Many shops leave up to a 1/8" gap at the top of the glass. That is the difference between us and the others. We offer "shave" edges to get that factory installed look. No inch gaps here! Don't accept gaps.
Can window film be removed? Already have your windows tinted, but either want it darker, lighter, replaced, or just want to take it off? We can do it for you!! Most of the time we can save your defroster lines, although it is not ever 100% guarantee. We spend the extra time and make the effort to make sure to take all precautions not to damage your car in any way when removing the window tint. Average removal time is about 3-4 hours. We strongly recommend that you arrange a ride to drop off the car for the day so we have ample amount of time to make the car look its best.
What is dot matrix? Most cars have a black ceramic "frit" edge on the rear window. Sometimes this ceramic edge is straight and flat, while sometimes it will have a dotted edge. These black ceramic dots are quite thick on most cars and prevent the window film from sticking to the area between the dots. This results in a whitish-looking area. Typically this isn't very noticeable; however some cars have a wide band of dots on the top of the rear window used for shading the passengers riding in the back seat. This area is so wide that the whitish-looking area created is more noticeable. We scrub the dot matrix as much as possible, but unfortunately the film will not lie completely flat on the dot matrix. Once the tinting is dry, we suggest a second visit so that we can try to touch up that area.
Will safety and security window films stop a bullet?
No,
blanket statement can be made about this. There are many reported instances
where this has occurred, but the ballistic variables are too numerous to allow
